Workshop Description:
Flash prose, whether fictional or non-fictional, is characterized by its capacity to tell an unforgettable story in very few words.
In this workshop, we will approach flash prose as a self-contained window onto socio-historical processes that emerge from our most specific lived experiences and in particular, memories.
About the Presenter:
Tala Khanmalek aka mecca monarch (any pronouns) is a queer Iranian writer, editor, and scholar with a PhD in ethnic studies from UC Berkeley. Tala's work has been supported by Creative Capital, Tin House, RAWI, VONA, and more. Tala's forthcoming books include An Infinity of Traces (Blue Cactus Press), The Sun Planters (Asemana Press), and My Names Means Free (Blue Cactus Press), among other projects in progress.
