About the event
Workshop Description: This workshop provides space for rest, connection, and worldbuilding through creative writing practice while centering Black knowledge production and ways of being as a lens of analysis of real world social and ecological justice issues. Participants will explore the creative writing and embodied applications of a Black feminist multispecies approach through the writing of Alexis Pauline Gumbs and the place-based legacies of resistance, environmental and cultural memory of the Georgia Geechee cultural group. By the conclusion of the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to glean inspiration from black feminist analysis of marine mammal ecology, Georgia Geechee environmental and cultural memory, and collective sharing within the workshop space to exercise creative writing as a worldbuilding practice towards collective liberation and intersectional, interspecies justice.
Tickets are $25 minimum for general admission and limited $10 tickets for writers-in-need. All proceeds go towards paying our presenters and helping the Press pay…
